The Lyme Planning Board created a Housing Survey and collected results in November 2025.
The survey garnered 342 responses: 188 online and 154 on paper. That’s about a 24% response rate for the 1,440 voters in town – a good sample of the sentiments of Lyme.
You can read the same survey results in full-screen mode at: LymeGazette.com/LymeHousingSurvey2025/
I was completely unaware of any ‘blog’ which someone completed. I filled it out based on the background info given, my years of living in Lyme, and my annual property taxes.
I feel the Planning Board is being *entirely* unfair and unreasonable in considering the entire survey responses ‘invalid’ because of 1 hypothetical conjecture that the entire survey has been ‘tainted.’ Seems to me more like the Planning Board had no real interest in the first place finding out what Lyme resident actually think about, and want, in terms of more affordable, varied types of housing and now the Planning Board is ‘hiding’ behind a sort of made up excuse to not get to work on helping to solve the housing problem they purported to be interested in solving! We’ve zoned ourselves into a Lyme housing crisis and yet the Planning Board twiddles the data they’ve received away! At the very least send out the survey again along with cautions against “blogging” or other interpretations of “taintedness!’
